Administrative Services
The Town of Bouctouche provides all services to support its activities, including fire protection; law enforcement; collection and disposal of domestic waste; water and sewage; sidewalks, roads and streets; traffic control; community planning; parks and trees; tourism promotion; economic development; urban planning; housing; and zoning.
The administrative services department provides support to all other municipal departments. The Town maintains all records of municipal by-laws, resolutions, contracts, agendas and minutes of Town Council meetings, as well as offering advice regarding the regulations and procedures governing Town Council and all committees, and following up on any inquiries made by residents.
In addition, the Town manages municipal finances, supports the Town Council with regard to planning the annual budget, prepares all bills for public services and various other expenses, and manages all customer service activities. The Town offers payment services, provides information technology and computer networking services, manages postal and delivery services, supervises account payments, and provides the various municipal departments with supplies, services and materials in the most cost-effective, and feasible manner possible.
The municipality assumes primary responsibility for recruiting, human resources planning, benefits management, training and improvement, working relations and the administration of a results evaluation system. The Town also develops and implements policies on human resources management, and offers guidelines and advice to help Bouctouche to manage its human resources in a safe, efficient and equitable manner.
Financial Services
The Town of Bouctouche has one of the lowest property tax rates in southeastern New Brunswick; a municipal tax rate in 2019 of $1.3255 per $100 of assessed value.
The population of Bouctouche is estimated at 2,361 according to Statistics Canada data for 2016. The Town’s objective is to foster population growth and will achieve this by offering a high quality of life, availability of housing, new residential development and a positive outlook with regard to local employment. Bouctouche has a dynamic, bilingual workforce and offers a variety of attractive, practical housing at affordable prices.
Town Planning
Kent Regional Service Commission
The mandate of the Kent Regional Service Commission (KRSC), a local development commission, is to plan and promote the logical, advantageous development of the entire municipality of Bouctouche. In promoting sound land use, KRSC ensures that construction companies, developers, investors and consumers are well-informed, and that all initiatives are implemented in keeping with the terms of any provincial and municipal regulations (construction, lot division, zoning).
The services offered by KRSC include delivering construction permits, approving lot division plans and reviewing the municipal plan. The Town of Bouctouche manages the municipal plan and issues all relevant decrees.
